Kern County Fire gains full containment on Quarry Fire

Update: Kern County firefighters have gained full containment on the Quarry Fire.

Update: Kern County firefighters stopped the Quarry Fire at around 1:30 p.m. before it threatened structures or caused any injuries and is now at 75 percent containment.

Kern County Fire Department officials said full containment is expected by 8 p.m. Fire crews continue to mop up hotspots and secure the perimeter.

The fire was reported just before 10:30 a.m. Thursday.

Update: The fire is now 183 acres.

Kern County Fire Department is on scene of a 183-acre grass fire burning east of Arvin.

The Quarry Fire started near Bear Mountain Blvd and Deertrail Drive. 

No structures are threatened.
