Deputies need help finding suspects in fatal shooting

The sheriff’s department needs the public’s help identifying two men wanted in connection with a murder that occurred on Sunday morning in the 5600 block of Weedpatch Highway near Lamont.
LAMONT, CA -- The Kern County Sheriff’s Department needs the public's help identifying two men wanted in connection with a murder that took place Sunday morning in the 5600 block of Weedpatch Highway near Lamont.

Deputies say two men entered a residence in the 5600 block of Weedpatch Hwy. The two encountered the victim, 29- year-old Enrique Velasquez, inside the home. Deputies describe the men were as: Hispanic, late 20’s, 5’3”, stocky build, short dark brown hair, goatee, with a red and black flamed tattoo on his right forearm.

The other is a Hispanic man, mid 20’s, 5’7”, thin build, short black hair, clean shaven.

Both men were armed with firearms. Velasquez was shot several times inside the home and pronounced dead at the scene. After the shooting the men fled east on a dirt road south of the residence toward Weedpatch Hwy. in a vehicle described as a white or cream colored two door SUV with tinted windows, low profile tires, and chrome wheels, possibly an early to mid 90’s 2 door Ford Explorer.
