Teen killed in crash involving underage driver

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - UPDATE (March 16, 2018): The Kern County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim who died in a car accident in East Bakersfield as Cesar Salgado Ortiz, 17, of Lamont.

A teenager was killed after he was ejected in a rollover crash on Tuesday. 

At 3:45 p.m., Bakersfield Police Department responded to the 300 block of Morning Drive for reports of an overturned vehicle in the roadway.

Officers learned the car was driven by a 14-year-old girl. Two 17-year-old male passengers were ejected from the car. 

One of the ejected passengers died at the hospital. The driver and the other passenger suffered minor to moderate injuries, according to BPD. 

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. No arrests have been made at this time.

Officials have not released the identities.
