BAKERSFIELD, CA- Another injection well in Kern County is being shut down over concerns of contaminated groundwater.

A representative with the Division of Oil, Gas and Geothermal Resources, or DOGGR, confirmed it's an underground well owned by Hathaway, LLC in the Kern Front Oil Field.

Eleven other injection wells were closed in July over similar concerns, and two are back online.

This is all part of a joint investigation by DOGGR, state water officials, and the Environmental Protection Agency.

Chad Hathaway sent 17 News a statement:

"We feel that our State's oil and gas regulatory agencies need to make sticking to the facts and science more of a priority versus making knee jerk decisions based off threats from radical, illogical, and unreasonable environmental groups. It is our hope that other companies faced with similar situations as this will not tolerate these types of actions. I realize that a comment like this may seem rough but eventually there comes a point where our industry has to draw the line in the sand and say enough is enough. These radical environmental groups are trying to kill our industry and our way of life in Kern County. They could care less if we are all paying $10.00 a gallon for gas and all of these great high paying jobs disappear."
