BAKERSFIELD, CA - Hundreds of people showed up in downtown Bakersfield Wednesday, to support our veterans at the 3rd annual Wounded Heroes Fund barbecue.

Volunteers cooked up 2,500 tri tip sandwiches.

And, there were plenty of people lined up to sink their teeth into one for a $10 donation.

One Bakersfield company, Spartan Inc., bought 88 sandwiches.

"Feeding our whole shop. It's a good cause. Thought it would be the right thing to do, support our veterans, the wounded heroes and everyone that supports our country," said Johnny Black, Spartan Inc.

The barbecue brought in more than $30,000.

The money helps the Wounded Heroes Fund provide services to wounded veterans as they return to civilian life.
