ROSAMOND, CA- A Rosamond woman was arrested Friday at her home where animal control officers said they discovered 64 dead cats, and 155 felines living in inhumane conditions.

Christina Patz, 42, was arrested at her home in the 3200 block of Whisper Sands Avenue in Rosamond.  Officers had been called there on reports of unsanitary conditions, a possible large amount of animals on the property and an illegal kennel.

Patz was booked on 90 initial felony charges of cruelty to an animal.

The cats were taken to several Kern County Animal Services’ shelters for medical treatment. The Kern County Animal Services veterinarian performed an examination and 23 cats had to be euthanized.

The case is still under investigation and additional charges may be filed, Kern County Animal Services reported.
