Woman struck by taxi in East Bakersfield, suffers major injuries

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - A woman is hospitalized this morning after being struck by a taxi cab in East Bakersfield.
 
The incident happened just before 8:00 p.m. Sunday at Flower and Haley Streets, according to California Highway Patrol.
     
The taxi driver was traveling west when a woman walked out in front of the vehicle. She was not in a cross walk at the time of the incident, officers said.
 
The woman was taken to Kern Medical with major injuries, according to CHP.
 
The driver stayed at the scene and was not cited, officials said.
