Cincinnati, OH (Sports Network) - Xavier has hired Greg Christopher as its next director of athletics.
Christopher has spent the past 6 1/2 years as the director of athletics at Bowling Green State University. He replaces Mike Bobinski, who is moving on to Georgia Tech next month.
"Greg's commitment to student athletes is not just about winning games and matches," Xavier president Michael J. Graham said. "Character and leadership building, academic excellence and community service are signature traits of how he runs a program. His commitment to our Jesuit value of caring for the whole person, makes him the right choice to lead Xavier's athletic teams into the Big East Conference."
Bowling Green has won 11 Mid-American Conference championships in Christopher's tenure. Christopher will conclude his duties at Bowling Green on May 2.
"Greg Christopher has had a major leadership role in the University and in building a strong reputation for BGSU in the MAC and nationally," Bowling Green president Mary Ellen Mazey said. "We will miss him greatly but know that he will have an outstanding future at Xavier."
