BAKERSFIELD, CA- A southern California man was arrested Monday night for an armed robbery at a Southwest Bakersfield business.

Bakersfield Police responded to the robbery around 5 p.m. at Soul Purpose, a green shop in the Town & Country Village Shopping Center on Stockdale Highway.

Police then say Loya went around the counter and removed money from the cash register drawer and took off.

Witnesses told police Loya entered a vehicle that was parked in the parking lot and changed his clothing. He then left on foot into the nearby residential area where he was located by officers.

Loya was taken into custody after an extensive search by officers and with the help of the Kern County Sheriff’s Office helicopter.

Officers say the vehicle that Loya was seen entering and changing clothing in was determined to be a stolen vehicle from San Diego that was taken during a residential burglary.  The firearm was located inside Loya’s vehicle and was determined to be a replica firearm.

Loya was arrested for robbery, possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting/obstructing an officer, and an outstanding warrant.
