Congressman David Valadao supports immigration reform bill

He announced Wednesday that he will support comprehensive immigration reform legislation being crafted by house democrats.
Hanford Congressman David Valadao is making good on a stance he's had for months. He is breaking ranks with GOP leaders in the House of Representatives announcing that he will support comprehensive immigration reform legislation being crafted by House Democrats.

On his congressional website, the freshman representative said, he'll vote in favor of HR15, the Border Security Act.

Among the act's provisions is a pathway to citizenship for undocumented immigrants. That provision is strongly opposed by almost the entire house GOP caucus.

Valadao becomes just the third republican to back HR15.

In a statement released Wednesday night, Valadao said, "By supporting HR15, I am strengthening my message: addressing immigration reform in the house cannot wait."

He went on to state, "I am serious about doing whatever it takes, to repair our broken immigration system."
