Ask 17 News: Traffic trouble on Truxtun

Viewer is concerned about drivers running red light during busy traffic times.
BAKERSFIELD - Debbie in Bakersfield asks about the turn lane at Oak and Truxtun, turning west onto the Truxtun Extension.
She says it allows so few cars to go through during peak hours, that traffic gets backed up and some drivers run the red light.

We spoke with Nick Fidler of the Bakersfield Public Works Department.
He says they've been working on the signal timing at Oak and Truxtun since the Westside Parkway opened. Traffic patterns have changed significantly. So, they're doing studies for each intersection that's affected, and they will revise the signal timing once the studies are complete.
