Kiyoshi attended UCLA and thought he was going to be a doctor. That’s why he decided to major in molecular biology. Then he fell in love with journalism and decided to get his master’s degree from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University. What a change! After that he was hooked on broadcasting.

Before joining 17 News, Kiyoshi worked as a reporter and photographer for KERO TV in Bakersfield. Before that, he worked as a Washington correspondent for WDTV in Bridgeport, West Virginia. While in Washington, Kiyoshi covered national politics, including the Congressional debate over Welfare.

Kiyoshi was raised in Chatsworth, a small suburb of Los Angeles, but is now proud to call Bakersfield home. In his free time, Kiyoshi enjoys running, exercising and hanging out with friends and family.
