CHP looking to hire several dispatchers in Bakersfield

The Highway Patrol says applications will be accepted until April 3, 2014. There are several openings in Bakersfield, Fresno, Merced.
BAKERSFIELD, CA -- The California Highway Patrol says they are looking to hire between 4 and 6 dispatchers for the Bakersfield area.  CHP officials say interested applicants should be willing to work nights, weekends, holidays, overtime and unusual hours. 

The duties include operating the radio, computer related equipment; dispatching appropriate personnel and resources such as officer, emergency equipment, allied agencies; screening calls from officers, public media and other allied agencies and taking appropriate action. Handling 911 calls from citizens who are difficult to communicate with (e.g., upset, abusive, intoxicated, suicidal, young/old, or speech impaired).
