Gamer robbed at gunpoint outside Valley Plaza Mall

BPD said victim was robbed for the new PlayStation 4 gaming console he had just purchased Friday morning at GameStop in South Bakersfield.

BAKERSFIELD,CA- Bakersfield Police are investigating an early morning armed robbery that happened in the parking lot of the Valley Plaza Mall, following the midnight release of a new video game console.

It happened just before 12:30 a.m. Friday.

Police say the victim was robbed at gunpoint in the parking lot by two men for the new Play Station 4 gaming console he had just purchased at the GameStop inside the mall

Officers located the suspects vehicle nearby and attempted to stop it. However, it failed to yield and led officers on a short pursuit to a nearby apartment in the 3100 block of Coventry Drive.

Officers executed a search warrant for the apartment and located the stolen gaming console. Police also located a replica firearm in the vehicle.

Police arrested Maurice Boyd, 20, and Marcus Jenkins, 19, for robbery, conspiracy and evading.
